PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a wall flow to reduce an HC emission amount, by enabling injection in compression stroke from low fuel pressure in start or immediately after the start. SOLUTION: In a direct injection spark ignition internal combustion engine, when warming-up of a catalyst is required, the fuel is injected in the compression stroke, and fuel ignition timing in the compression stroke is set depending on the fuel pressure. When the fuel pressure is low, the fuel injection timing is a first half of the compression stroke, and the fuel injection timing is delayed up to optimal injection timing along with increase in fuel pressure.
