PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent establishment of an unintended gear shift stage due to malfunction of an actuator in a manual transmission in which gear shift control is carried out by an actuator. SOLUTION: In the manual transmission, select operation is executed by moving a shift select shaft 73 in the direction of an axis L with a select actuator A1, or by rotating the select shaft 73 around the axis L with a shift actuator A2. By doing so, a prescribed gear shift stage is established by selectively driving with a shift arm 78 a plurality of shift pieces 82-85 arranged in the direction of the axis L of the select shaft 73 in parallel manner. The shift arm 78 is made to stand by at a select position in which the shift operation cannot be executed, namely, an intermediate position between two adjacent select positions. As a result, even if malfunction of the shift actuator A2 occurs, establishment of an unintended gear shift stage can be prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
