CONDUCTIVE POLYMER ACTUATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conductive polymer actuator disposed efficiently with a soft electrode not preventing the passage of an ion nor inhibiting the displacement of an expansion body of a conductive polymer. SOLUTION: A gel is used as a first electrode 12 directly connected to the expansion body 11 of the conductive polymer and containing an ion included in an oxidation reduction reaction and an electronic conductor. Thus, the electrode itself contains the ion necessary for the oxidation reduction reaction. Potential difference is given between the first electrode 12 allowing incoming and outgoing of the ion between the expansion body and itself and a second electrode 25 connected to the expansion body via an electrolyte carrying layer 13, thereby generating the expansion or contraction deformation of the expansion body accompanying the oxidation reduction reaction.
