<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce erroneous detection of motion vectors more than conventional devices and methods when adding motion vectors detected by a block matching method to candidates of an initial bias vector to detect motion vectors by a gradient method or the like, by applying a motion vector detector and a motion vector detection method to detect motion vectors by the gradient method or the like using, especially, the initial bias vector. <P>SOLUTION: When inter-field differences and motion vectors are discriminated on the basis of prescribed discrimination reference values α, β1, and β2 to find that a motion has quickly changed and an inter-field difference value is large in the case of an already detected initial bias vector INT MVA, a motion vector MVB obtained by the block matching method is set as an initial bias vector V1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
