PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device capable of being manufactured with low costs, saving space, and saving energy. SOLUTION: The image reading device for reading an image of an original S by imaging the reflected light, on a CCD 27, which is lighted by a lamp 28 and reflected from the original S with an imaging lens 26 is provided with the lamp 28 at a position where a part of an effective pupil 37 of the imaging lens 26 is to be overlapped when the imaging lens 26 is viewed from the CCD 27.
