An extruder with a gear pump, which is excellent in response in rotation, in which cost of a device is low, and which is capable of cooling a material. The gear pump of the extruder has a drive pinion installed so as to be coaxial with a screw and fixed to the forward end of the screw, one or more driven pinions meshed with and driven by the drive pinion and rotating about shafts in parallel with a screw rotation shaft, and a gear case fixed to a barrel and receiving the pinions. The bear case consists of side plates arranged at axially both sides of the pinions with minute gaps in between and extending perpendicular to the screw rotation shaft, and of a casing provided between the side plates and closing a space radially outside the pinions. The rotation shafts of the driven pinions are fixed to the side plates. Of the side plates, a suction-side side plate positioned on the side closer to the screw has rubber suction openings at sections at which the drive pinion and each of the driven pinions meshes, the sections being at the positions corresponding to the side on which the teeth of the pinions separate from each other. A discharge-side side plate positioned on the side farther from the screw has rubber discharge openings at sections at which the drive pinion and each of the driven pinions meshes, the sections being at the positions corresponding to the side on which the teeth of the pinions approach each other. Communication in the axial direction between the rubber suction openings and the rubber discharge openings is blocked by the pinions. |
