The diameter reducing device (1, 1a) for a stent (2) has pressure pieces (9, 9a) acting in directly on the outer surface of the stent, and supported by an abutment (3, 3a). The device has flexible clamping jaws (15) between the pressure pieces and the abutment to provide an adjustable elastic return setting force by means of a pressurized fluid.
