<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a field-weakening control to be performed sufficiently by enlarging a leading phase angle by a presumed phasing scheme which presumes the rotor phase of a brushless DC motor. <P>SOLUTION: A method of controlling the brushless DC motor includes a step of controlling the brushless DC motor 8 by calculating the time ts of a circulating current generated by switching the energization of a control circuit 20 in a range that cannot detect a rotor position by an induced voltage generated in a non-energizing phase when the brushless DC motor 8 is controlled, and outputting the drive signal of the energizing timing of the brushless DC motor 8 by the presumed phasing scheme IPM6 for presuming the rotor phase so that the circulating current time ts becomes the value corresponding to the predetermined number of rotations.
