摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a regeneration activation method of a particulate filter based on the estimate of the amount of particulates deposited in the particulate filter. <P>SOLUTION: According to the method, the estimated value X<SB>M</SB>of the amount of the particulates accumulated in the particulate filter is calculated, the estimated value X<SB>M</SB>is compared with the threshold m<SB>TH</SB>corresponding to the predetermined maximum amount of the particulates, and when the estimated value X<SB>M</SB>exceeds the threshold m<SB>TH</SB>, the regeneration and activation of the particulate filter is performed. The method includes the steps of: estimating a first amount X<SB>MS</SB>of the particulates accumulated in the particulate filter with the statistical model based on experimental data; estimating a second amount of X<SB>MF</SB>of the particulates accumulated in the particulate filter with the physical model using the measured physical quantity; determining the tolerance based on the first particulate amount X<SB>MS</SB>; comparing the estimated value X<SB>M</SB>with the second particulate amount X<SB>MF</SB>when the second particulate amount X<SB>MF</SB>is within the tolerance; and limiting the estimated value X<SB>M</SB>when the second particulate amount X<SB>MF</SB>is out of the tolerance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p>
