REGENERATION ACTIVATION METHOD OF PARTICULATE FILTER BASED ON ESTIMATE OF AMOUNT OF PARTICULATE DEPOSITED IN THE PARTICULATE FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a regeneration activation method of a particulate filter based on the estimate of the amount of particulates deposited in the particulate filter.

SOLUTION: According to the method, the estimated value XMof the amount of the particulates accumulated in the particulate filter is calculated, the estimated value XMis compared with the threshold mTHcorresponding to the predetermined maximum amount of the particulates, and when the estimated value XMexceeds the threshold mTH, the regeneration and activation of the particulate filter is performed. The method includes the steps of: estimating a first amount XMSof the particulates accumulated in the particulate filter with the statistical model based on experimental data; estimating a second amount of XMFof the particulates accumulated in the particulate filter with the physical model using the measured physical quantity; determining the tolerance based on the first particulate amount XMS; comparing the estimated value XMwith the second particulate amount XMFwhen the second particulate amount XMFis within the tolerance; and limiting the estimated value XMwhen the second particulate amount XMFis out of the tolerance.
