PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which scratch and fusion on image carriers are stably prevented over stations of different environments for a long time. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has stations Pa, Pb, Pc, and Pd for respective colors, which include photoreceptor drums (the image carriers) 3a to 3d, primary electrifiers (electrifying means) 2a to 2d, developing units (developing means) 1a to 1d, transfer electrifiers (transfer means) 24a to 24d, and cleaning devices (cleaning means) 4a to 4d. The image forming apparatus also has a reciprocating mechanism that moves the cleaning blades of the cleaning devices 4a to 4d in the direction of main scan.
