PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of automatically adjusting the right-and-left projecting direction so that the projecting optical axis of a projection device may be always perpendicular to a horizontal line on a screen. SOLUTION: The projector 10 is constituted so that a horizontal linear test pattern is projected to a projection surface from the projection device through a projection lens 21, the image of the test pattern on the projection surface is picked up by the imaging device of a digital camera 50 arranged to be separated from the lens 21 upper in a perpendicular direction, and the image analysis tilt angle calculation part of a tilt angle measuring device acquires differential pixel number information on the number of differential pixels in a lateral direction from the imaging screen of the imaging device and calculates a tilt angle in a horizontal direction made by the projecting optical axis of the projection device with the projection surface, and the device for automatically adjusting the right-and-left projecting direction automatically adjusts the projecting optical axis of the projection device so as to be always perpendicular to the horizontal line on the screen by rotating the right wheel 41 and the left wheel 42 of a front leg based on the obtained tilt angle in the horizontal direction.
