METHOD FOR PRODUCING LACTIC ACID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing lactic acid, by which cellulose can at once be degraded into the lactic acid. SOLUTION: This method for producing the lactic acid is characterized by bringing cellulose into contact with a base and water at a reaction temperature of 150 to 400°C and at a pressure of≥5 MPa to directly degrade the cellulose into the lactic acid.
