A portable telephone equipped with a plurality of microcomputers for realizing a high speed key response. Each of a first microcomputer (14) and a second microcomputer (24) comprise a key matrix (26) used for performing key input, a key input detecting section (14a, 24a) connected with the key matrix (26) in order to identify the key input and to convert it into a corresponding key interrupt signal, and a key control section (14b, 24b) receiving the key interrupt signal and setting permission or inhibition of interrupt of the key interrupt signal in the signal processing. Permission of interrupt of the key interrupt signal in the signal processing is set for the key control section of any one microcomputer, and inhibition of interrupt of the key interruption signal is set for the key control section of the other microcomputer.
