The transmission unit comprises a belt (9) guided around several pairs of bevel gears (3, 4, 5, 6) attached to drive and output shafts (1, 2). Hydraulic pressure is guided through a control valve (12) to the cylinder and piston units (13, 14) connected to the axially movable gears (5, 6). The control valve (12) itself is directed by a proportional pressure reduction valve (23) connected to an electronic control unit (24). A two by two way valve (26) is integrated in the duct (22) leading to the control valve (12) and closed by a spring mechanism (15) in case of a power failure in order to retain the nominal pressure.
