A component exposed to tribological constraints, i.e. injection needles, injection valves or components of an injection system for an internal combustion engine, has a surface zone (20) moving w.r.t an opposing piece (6) and thus subjected to tribological constraints. The surface has a first coating (21) incorporating a first layer (22) of diamond-type carbon with a hydrogen content of at least 30 at.%. The first coating may also include an anchoring layer between the first layer and the component. The surface (25) of the opposing piece may also be provided with a second coating (23) having a diamond-type carbon layer (24) with a hydrogen content of at least 30%. The first and second layers are deposited from a beam of plasma provided by a plasma source.
