A process for manufacturing a cleaning blade for use in electro-photographic apparatus comprises a mould 1 with a cavity 2, a cleaning blade support strip with a primed edge (not shown), wherein the support strip is mounted across at least a part of the mould, such that the primed edge of the support strip contacts a resinous material. The resinous material is supplied to the mould at atmospheric pressure or slightly elevated pressure and then cured. The material may be a thermosetting polyurethane resin supplied under open cast conditions to the mould at a pressure of less than 6 bar by a dynamic mixing device 6 which mixes the materials and allows them to react and discharges the material into the mould cavity. The dynamic mixing device has a means for shuttling the mixing device along at least a part of the length of the mould. The mould may be preheated and once filled with the resinous material is placed under a heat source to complete the curing of the resin. A later embodiment relates to a mould for forming a joined cleaning blade pair. |
