PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating method and device which eliminates the defect when COD-containing water is treated with photocatalysts and is capable of practically performing waste water treatment by using the powdery photocatalysts. SOLUTION: This treating method for cleaning the COD-containing water consists in making the powdery photocatalysts and active carbon to coexist in raw water containing the COD-component and irradiating the raw water with UV rays, then adding a high molecular flocculating agent having a cation group to the raw water, subjecting the raw water to separation of solid from the water, circulating separated sludge to the photoirradiation process step described above and subjecting the separated water to aerobic biological treatment by biofilms. The treating device for cleaning the COD-containing water is constituted by connecting a photoreactor having a light source, a coagulating sedimentation tank and a biofilm filtration device, is provided with a line for sending the biological treated water from the biofilm filtration device to the photoreactor and is provided with a line for sending the photocatalyst-containing sludge from the coagulating sedimentation tank to the photoreactor. |
