A stud (110) for installation in a host panel (176) and for fastening a component to the host panel. An annular flange (116) extends radially from the shaft. A shoulder (128) for engagement with the host panel has a top adjacent to the shaft and a base adjacent to the flange. An undercut (130) is defined at the base of the shoulder between the shoulder and the flange. A forging collar (140) having a central aperture is received in a sleeve-like fashion over the shaft and includes a forging surface (144) which is in deformable contact with the top of the shoulder and to be retained therewith.
