System for the filtration of exhaust gases in which the particles in the gas are retained on a variable surface filter and burned by the action of a combustion catalyst in the form of nanoparticles.This additive is incorporated in the fuel tank and is associated with a means for obstructing part of the filter system when the temperature of the exhaust gases is lower or equal to a threshold of 200 - 250[deg]C.This avoids cooling of the obstructed part and maintenance of a temperature greater or equal to 300[deg]C for regeneration.
