<p>Detecting prion protein (PrP) in a biological sample of human or animal origin consists of using a molecule with at least one positive charge and/or at least one osidic link and a ligand other than the protein ligand. The molecule is added to the biological sample to precipitate the PrP before adding the ligand other than the protein ligand. A supplementary stage of the procedure consists of adding proteinase K to the sample to digest the cellular prion protein (Prc) to reveal the presence of a resistant pathogenic protein (PrPres).</p> |
