<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laminated birefringent film which is excellent in appearance such as in transparency and can realize excellent optical characteristics, especially excellent transparency and a large phase difference in the thickness direction. <P>SOLUTION: This laminated birefringent film is composed of three layers, namely a transparent high polymer film, a barrier layer formed directly on this transparent film, and a birefringent layer formed on the above barrier layer. For the material of the above birefringent layer, polyamide, polymide etc. can be used.
