PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulverized material for producing fine metal powder, with little impurities, of niobium, tantalum or an alloy containing either metal as a main component. SOLUTION: The metal chip for a pulverized material of embrittled niobium, tantalum or alloy containing either metal as a main component is composed of one metal selected from niobium, tantalum and alloy containing either metal as a main component, and has such a shape that the barrel is formed cylindrical and the diameter of the cylindrical part is 0.03 to 5 mm.
