<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reservation service system for reserving various rental items such as a book through the Internet for a user and delivering the rental items to the user in a library or a rental shop. <P>SOLUTION: In this system, a user portable communication terminal retrieves a rental item from a rental item reservation screen of the homepage of a rental server, and transmits rental reservation information to the rental server. The rental server transmits the rental reservation information received from the user portable communication terminal to a host computer by a transmitting means. The host computer retrieves the rental reserved item from a rental item database, registers the rental reserved item in a reservation file, transmits the registered rental reserved item to the rental server as reservation registration information. The rental server transmits the reservation registration information to the user portable communication terminal.
