PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin polyester film particularly excellent in smoothness, thermal properties and other properties and suitably employable in various applications. SOLUTION: The polyester film has a film thickness of at most 6μm, a non-contact three-dimensional surface roughness (Ra) of at most 0.025μm on at least one film surface, an elongation within the range of -0.5% to +0.5% at 200°C in the longitudinal direction of the film, and a plane orientation degree (ΔP) of at least 0.167.
