PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bis(N-arylpyrrole) compound having fluorescence in visible region, and usable as a luminescent material. SOLUTION: The bis(N-arylpyrrole) compound is represented by the formula(1)[ wherein, Ar is a (heteroatom-bearing) aromatic ring; and R1to R4are each H, a halogen atom, cyano, amino, an aliphatic or aromatic amino, acylamino, aliphatic or aromatic acyl, aliphatic or aromatic alkoxy, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclic ring, wherein R3and R4are each not H ].
