<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve replacement and maintainability of components and supplies by a user of an image forming apparatus, by storing information added to a fresh component with which the previous one is replaced. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an image forming part 13 which is attachable/detachable to/from the body of the apparatus; a memory device 16 which is attached to the image forming part 13 and stores the information of the image forming part 13; and an input/output part 12 which is disposed between the body of the apparatus and the memory device 16, in order to transmit and receive information between the body of the apparatus and the memory device 16. In the image forming apparatus, a component incorporated in the image forming part 13 is provided with a memory device 62 for storing information about the component. The input/output part 12 has an image formation input/output device 51 for the memory device 16, and an external input/output device 52 for the memory device 62. The body of the apparatus includes an engine control part 30 which, when the component is replaced, inputs information specific to the fresh component stored in the memory device 62 provided for the fresh component, and which transfers and stores the information into the memory device 16 of the image forming part 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
