<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase reliability in electrical connection between the input electrical contact of a process cartridge and an output electrical contact provided in the main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, in mounting the process cartridge to the main assembly of the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: When the cartridge B is inserted into the body A of the image forming apparatus, a movable operating member 142, provided movably to a cartridge frame, is engaged with a fixed engageable member 146 fixedly provided in the body of the image forming apparatus, to move relative to the cartridge frame. After the member 142 has engaged with the member 146, it is engaged with the displaceable engaging part of a displaceable member 147 to make the member 147 move, and to make the output electrical contact 144a move from a retracted position to an electrically connecting position against the elastic force of an elastic function member, in linking with the movement of the member 147. The input electrical contact 141a is provided on the member 142 to be exposed from the member 142, and provided movably between the electrically connecting position and the retracted position, retracted from the electrically connecting position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
