PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine capable of optionally selecting the presence/no presence of transmission of a thumbnail picture when transmitting an image file coded in a prescribed way and in a prescribed color space including the thumbnail picture photographed by an imaging apparatus. SOLUTION: When the facsimile machine captures an image file subjected to JPEG coding in the color space sYCC including the thumbnail picture photographed by a digital still camera from a Compact Flash (R) card 30 and controls transmission of the thumbnail picture in the case of transmitting the image file depending on the selection as to whether or not the thumbnail picture included in the captured image file is to be transmitted.
