PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casing for a liquid crystal display, more particularly, for a double-sided liquid crystal display, realizing improvement in the strength and assemblability of the liquid crystal display, reduction in the cost thereof and improvement in the appearance thereof, and to provide a liquid crystal display equipped with the casing. SOLUTION: The casing for holding and fixing the component members of the liquid crystal display 1 is constituted of a pair of frame members of the same shape, and the four sides of the side faces of each of the frame members are fabricated, in such a way that the outside surface section located on the outer side and the inside surface section located on an inner side when combined are formed on levels different from each other. Notched parts are disposed between the outside surface section and the inside surface section. The strength and assemblability are improved, and deterioration in the display quality due to the offset between the positions and gaps of the component members can be prevented, by thus forming the side faces on the levels different from each other. Also, the cost of the frame members can be reduced, by arranging the different level structures in the positions point symmetrical with the center of a picture frame. Further, since the same shapes are obtained, when viewed from any side of the front and the rear, the appearance of the liquid crystal display of a both side type can be improved, as well.
