PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering an RNA from body hair, especially hair in high yield and purity by simple operation. SOLUTION: A method for extracting the RNA from the body hair of mammals, birds, etc., comprising the following is provided. The body hair is removed, immediately frozen at an ultralow temperature with liquid nitrogen and then brought into contact with a reagent liquid for extracting the RNA using phenol containing guanidine thiocyanate, etc. A vortical stirring treatment is subsequently carried out.
