<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a closed loop feedback medicine supply system to directly inject an automatically controlled dose of a medicine into a spinal cord in response to detected muscle activity without any intervention of a surgeon or a clinical staff. <P>SOLUTION: The closed loop feedback medicine supply system to control muscle activity such as spasticity which includes a sensor such as an EMG sensor to generate a muscle activity signal detected by monitoring the muscle activity. A controller automatically adjusts at least either timing of administration of the medicine for controlling the muscle activity or a dose of the medicine in response to the detected muscle activity signal and generates a control signal. An injection pump administers the medicine for controlling the muscle activity such as anticonvulsant in response to the control signal. The medicine discharged from the injection pump is supplied to a spinal cord of a patient with an intrathecal catheter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
