<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily retrieve a plurality of articles concentrated in a small area. <P>SOLUTION: The retrieval support terminal 200 which is carryable for a retriever receives information for specifying the retrieval object from a management server 100. The retrieval support terminal 200 transmits excitation electric wave for exciting a wireless IC tag 300 while varying the intensity of the electric wave stepwise. The retrieval support terminal 200 detects the distance from the retrieval support terminal 200 to the wireless IC tag 300 by discriminating the response electric wave to the transmitted excitation electric wave based on the reachable distance corresponding to the intensity of the electric wave. The retrieval support terminal 200 detects the direction to the retrieval object, the wireless IC tag 300 by using a pair of antennas separated to left and right apart from prescribed distance and detects the intensity of received electric wave of the response electric wave, and based on the difference of intensity of the left and right electric waves.
