PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that a mobile telephone set which can be folded to expose a main display section, is limited to assign a key for setting a silent mode and is complicated in setting and canceling the silent mode ; and that convenience in the setting of the silent mode by a predetermined key operation or in accordance with the state of a specific function, such as a state of an antenna, can not be improved while functions of the mobile telephone set become complicated and highly graded. SOLUTION: Rotating and opening/closing states of a first case and a second case are detected to automatically set the silent mode. In a state other than the state of closing the mobile telephone set with a display section inside which is most possible to be carried at present, the silent mode is turned on, thereby reducing possibility to disturb the vicinity with call arrival tones. Furthermore, first silent mode setting by a key operation and second silent mode setting by detecting the states of the cases are made possible, the first silent mode is preferentially set in accordance with the states of cases.
