PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct variations in the focus position of a lens, accompanying the temperature variations inside a camera. SOLUTION: Temperature sensors 216, 229 are proximally located to heat-generating elements, such as an image sensor 214 or an image display 116 within a body 110 of a camera 100. An on/off state monitor 230 is located in the camera to monitor the on/off state of the camera. An ASIC 212 estimates the temperature of a lens assembly 150, based on output signals from the temperature sensors or time lapse from a switched point to the on/off state of the camera. Error correction signals are outputted to a focus control part 270, based on the estimated temperature, and the error of the focus position caused by the temperature variation of the lens assembly is corrected.
