PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal correction device which is capable of performing proper correction regardless of sudden input of a high-luminance signal. SOLUTION: A white character slice level signal is corrected in accordance with color difference signals by an addition circuit 14 and is corrected in accordance with APL of a luminance signal Y by an addition circuit 15. A corrected white character slice level signal outputted from the addition circuit 15 is supplied to a luminance signal slice circuit 16 to slice the luminance signal Y. A white character correction signal is generated by amplitude adjustment of a signal obtained by slicing, and the amplitude of the white character correction signal is limited within a range corresponding to a correction value limiter signal by a correction signal limiter circuit 18. The white character correction signal is added to a blue signal B, and the white character correction signal is subtracted from a green signal G and a red signal R respectively, and thus a video signal is corrected.
