PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an organic EL device which can display an image of high quality, excellent in brightness and chromaticity of pixels, capable of uniformly applying a liquid body containing functional material for forming an organic EL layer on a base body. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the organic EL device, having pixel electrodes 141, banks 150 having an opening 111 at the position corresponding to the pixel electrode 141, and organic EL layers 140 and common electrodes 154 successively laminated on the pixel electrodes 141; includes a process of forming the banks 150 having an opening 111 on the substrate P, a process of pattern-forming the pixel 141 in respective banks 150, a process of applying a liquid repellent treatment on a prescribed area on the substrate P including the surface of the banks 150 and the pixel electrodes 141, and a process of applying liquid material containing organic EL layer forming material to the inside of the banks 150 by a liquid drop discharging method.
