PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an olefin polymer in a good efficiency by suppressing sheeting in a gas phase fluidized bed type polymerization, a method for polymerizing an olefin in a good efficiency, and a material for them. SOLUTION: The subject anti-static agent consists of a silicon compound expressed by the formula (I): R<SB>r</SB>Si(OR')<SB>4-r</SB>[wherein, R, R' are each independently a 1-20C hydrocarbon; (r) is 2 or 3; in the case that a plurality of the Rs present, they may be the same or different; and also in the case that a plurality of the R's present, they may be the same or different]. The method for producing the olefin polymer comprises filling seed powder attached with the silicon compound in a gas phase fluidized bed type polymerization reaction vessel, then initiating the polymerization to polymerize the olefins, and also the method for producing the olefin polymer comprise using the gas phase fluidized bed type polymerization reaction vessel coated with the silicon compound expressed by the formula (I) on its inside wall surface, to polymerize the olefin.
