PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce reaction of a nailing machine at the time of continuous driving, and to prevent the occurrence of dribble at the time of single driving and an erroneous operation when connecting an air chuck. SOLUTION: This starter is constituted of a control lever 40 rotatably provided at an upper end of a contact arm 32 to rotate and operate a contact lever 34 and an engagement piece 45 formed on a trigger lever 31 to rotate and operate the control lever 40. At the time of a continuous driving mode, the contact lever 34 is rotated and operated via the control lever 40 to repeatedly operate a valve stem 19. At the time of a single driving mode, an operation end 34a of the contact lever 34 is rotated upward by the control lever 40, the valve stem 19 of a starting valve 15 is on-operated in process of the rotating operation of the trigger lever 31, and engagement of the control lever 40 and the contact lever 34 is separated at a position for performing a maximum pulling operation of the trigger lever 31 to off-operate the starting valve 15.
