<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver with a built-in communication function capable of reducing power consumption by turning off a tuner unit when the resource of the tuner unit is not used, and to provide a power consumption reducing method. <P>SOLUTION: The television receiver is provided with a receiving device for receiving broadcast signals, and a display device for receiving the broadcast signals from the receiving device by radio communication and displaying the received broadcast signals. The display device is provided with an external input means for accepting an external input, an input switching means for switching between the external input from the external input means and the broadcast signals from the receiving device, and a transmitting means for transmitting input switching information to the receiving means when the input switching means switches to the external input from the external input means.
