PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noise absorber for cables which the cables are inserted several times into, is small in size and excellent in using easiness while exhibiting its enough noise absorbing effect, and further, used for miscellaneous electronic appliances. SOLUTION: The noise absorber has a pair of magnetic-substance cores 11, 12 for so contacting and so combining them with each other as to form between them a cable inserting passage, and has a cover 20. The sectional shape of the cable inserting passage comprising the inner peripheral surfaces of the magnetic-substance cores 11, 12 is a polygon having six or more sides, an ellipse, a long circle, or the combined shape thereof, and the ratio of the longitudinal length of the sectional shape to its latitudinal length is made two or more. The cover 20 has such a structure as to cover respectively the outer peripheral-surface sides of the magnetic-substance cores 11, 12 with semi-covers 21, 22. The semi-covers 21, 22 are combined with each other by a hinge 23, and they have respectively cover fastening portions 24, 24 at the end edges of their opposite sides, wherein the pair of semi-covers 21, 22 are locked mutually engagingly by the cover fastening portions 24, 24.
