PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge system and a discharge method for an electrophotographic image forming apparatus with which electrification is possible in a non-contact state. SOLUTION: The discharge system for the electrophotographic image forming apparatus is provided with a photoconductive member 52 having a photoconductive layer and a conductive strip 58 arranged on at least one side of the photoconductive layer, a 1st corona charger 54 arranged facing the photoconductive layer, for charging the photoconductive layer, and a 2nd corona charger 56 arranged facing the conductive strip, for charging the conductive strip with a charge whose polarity is reverse to that of the charge supplied by the 1st corona charger.
