PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control system for a television having high convenience. SOLUTION: When each of switches or each of numerical buttons on a display screen displayed on a liquid crystal panel is operated (RS2), an operating function corresponding to the operated button is searched from a data table, and command data of each type of each manufacturer associated with the searched operating function is read from the data table (RS4). An infrared signal based on each of the read command data is transmitted one by one from a transmitting/receiving section (RS5). When the transmission of all the command data of each type of each manufacturer which are correlated to this operating function is completed (RS6), the process returns to the step RS2.
