PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device capable of easily deleting magnetic data recorded on a magnetic recording medium or destroying data recorded on an optical recording medium, and a method and a device for discarding an electronic device, which performs destructive treatment of the electronic device. SOLUTION: This device 1 for processing a data recording medium is provided with an exciting coil 23 for generating the magnetic field of predetermined intensity, a magnetron 31 for radiating the electromagnetic wave of a predetermined frequency by predetermined intensity, and a housing part 60 for housing a magnetic recording medium or an optical recording medium. The housing part 60 is made of a nonmagnetic material to cut off an electromagnetic wave, the exciting coil 23 is wound on the outer peripheral part of the housing part 60 to excite a magnetic field therein, and the magnetron 31 is disposed in the wall part of the housing part 60 to radiate an electromagnetic wave toward the inside.
