PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder liner for cast-covering capable of suitably increasing the adhesiveness and bonding strength thereof with a block material by applying to a cylinder block and a method of manufacturing the cylinder liner. SOLUTION: This cylinder liner is formed to fulfill the requirements of the following A to F. A: The height of a projection 1P must be 0.5 to 1.0 mm. B: The number 1P of the projections must be 5 to 60 per cm2on the outer peripheral surface 11 of the cylinder liner. C: The area ratio of the area surrounded by the contour at a height of 0.4 mm must be 10 to 50%. D: The area ratio of the area surrounded by the contour at a height of 0.2 mm must be 20 to 55%. E: The areas surrounded by the contour at a height of 0.4 mm are independent of each other. F: The areas of the areas surrounded by the contour at a height of 0.4 mm is 0.2 to 3.0 mm2.
