PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centerless grinding method for grinding a workpiece with high accuracy in a short period of time, and contributing to reduction in facility cost, and to provide a grinder for use in the method. SOLUTION: The grinder is formed of a grinding wheel 11 for grinding a first ground surface G1 and a second ground surface G2 of the workpiece W, an adjusting wheel 12 for bearing the first ground surface G1 and applying a backward thrust to the workpiece W, a stopper 14 for inhibiting backward movement of the workpiece W, a first grinding wheel feeding means for feeding the grinding wheel 11 so as to make a first working surface 21 and a second working surface 22 carry out in-feed grinding, and terminating the feeding so as to be switched from the in-feed grinding to spark-out grinding, a stopper feeding means for withdrawing the stopper 14 simultaneously or before starting of the in-feed grinding, and advancing the stopper 14 so as to separate the second working surface 22 from the second ground surface G2 simultaneously or after completion of the spark-out grinding, and a second grinding wheel feeding means for feeding the grinding wheel 11 so as to carry out the in-feed grinding and the spark-out grinding of the first ground surface G1 after the second working surface 22 is separated from the second ground surface G2.
