The system to soften water, in an appliance, has a ion exchanger for water softening to give an adjustable water hardness. A setting unit determines the volume flow through the ion exchange (4). The volume flow setting unit can be a throttle valve, a pump, a shut-ff valve (3) and a control (6) for the working cycles. The operation of the control is determined by an input (7) and sensors (8-11) which monitor a number of parameters. |
