The airbag deceleration device for the suspended drive of a document shredder is installed on the inner underside of a paper inlet (21) which is constructed on the upper cover (2) of the document shredder. The deceleration device has a microswitch, a rotational release, a pressure plate, and an airbag sub-assembly. The rotational release is supported in shaft mounting by means of a pretensioning shaft. The pressure plate has a first end which engages in a leaf spring of the microswitch, and a second end which engages by a connecting head on a closed end of the airbag.
