A radio access system capable of preventing occurrence of problem of hidden terminals and minimizing degradation of the throughput. In the radio access system, an access point (12) divides terminals, which cannot recognize radio waves from each other, into different groups, and performs communication with the terminals for each of the groups. In this way, the radio access system can avoid occurrence of the problem of hidden terminals. The access point (12) and terminals (131-133,141-142) exchange, for each of the groups, RTS/CTS packets used for avoiding the occurrence of the problem of hidden terminals, thereby reducing overheads and minimizing the degradation of the throughput.
