PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a button type alkaline battery, in which a mercury-free zinc or a zinc alloy is used as an active material, and a negative pole is contacted to the inner surface of an anode sealing body, wherein tha battery is manufactured with a simple process, the hydrogen generation in the battery is suppressed, and the capacity degradation under storage is small. SOLUTION: The button type alkaline battery is constructed by forming a zinc layer and a metallic layer having a segregated phase containing at least a metal selected from indium, bismuth, or tin. The battery uses an alkaline electrolyte dissolved at least a compound selected from an indium compound, bismuth compound, or tin compound. The battery is manufactured through a process of disposing the negative pole in the inner face of the sealing body; and a process of forming a metallic layer having a zinc layer and the segregated layer above in the inner surface of the sealing body.
