PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single battery and a battery pack capable of preventing a reduction in strength of adhesion of a sealing portion against an increase in internal pressure of a battery element by simultaneously performing pressing of the battery element and sandwiching of the sealing portion of a laminate film with pressure. SOLUTION: A pair of elastic members 1A, 1B are plate-shaped springs to sandwich and hold the battery element 3, with projections opposed to electrode surfaces 31, 31 of the battery element 3. A pair of frame bodies 2A, 2B sandwich and hold the sealing portion 32, with respective surfaces 22A, 22B opposed thereto. Engaging portions 21A, 21B of the frame bodies 2A, 2B engage with end portions 11B, 11A of the elastic members 1B, 1A located on the opposite side with the battery element 3 in between. An elastic force is exerted between the electrode surfaces 31 and the frame bodies 2A, 2B, thereby pressing the electrode surfaces 31 and pressing the frame bodies 2A, 2B toward the sealing portion 32. An internal resistance of the battery element 3 is reduced by the electrode surfaces 31 being pressed, and the sandwiching pressure force exerted on the sealing portion 32 is automatically adjusted according to the internal pressure of the battery element 3.
